Heritage Fest

Today Brandon and I took Kaiya and Kate to the Downers Grove heritage fest. We had SO much fun! The girls got their face painted, ate snow cones and drove cars! It took us awhile to convince Kaiya to ride on the car but after she got on it she loved it! It was pretty hot out and it was super crowded but the girls did great. On the car ride home they got to eat cotton candy and thought that was pretty neat! We hope to do it again next year too! Last year we took the girls it rained so it was nice to be able to actually enjoy it this year! Lots of fun!! :)

There is more than one way to eat a donut...

After Kaiya's MyGym class today we walked over to Dunkin Donut for a special big girl treat! Kaiya picked out a pink one and was sooo excited to buy it. Since it was suppose to storm soon we got them to go and brought them back home to eat. Good thing too cause then I got the chance to take some really good pictures of her eating it. Too cute:)

Kaiya's crib on recall

On this mornings news I saw that Kaiya's crib has been recalled. I am so thankful that she is now sleeping in her toddler bed so I dont have to worry about her in her crib. Just thought I would pass along the information in case anyone else has one of these models. They are giving out vouchers for a new crib.
If you do have a Jardine crib you can go here to see if yours is on recall www.jardinecribrecall.com

Princess Bed

A couple months ago while at a store Kaiya spotted a princess toddler bed. She had to climb up on it and try it out. She just adored the thing. Brandon and talked about getting her one when she got a little bigger and was ready for it. (sometime after she turned 2)
Well I have been browsing Craigslist in hopes of finding a used one in good condition. Ive found a few but either they cost too much or were too far away to make it worth getting. Anyway, I came across one the other day which was close by and only cost $20.
We went and got it and set it up in Kaiyas room the other night. The first night we just let her try it out and play on it and then put her to bed in her crib. Well last night she decided she wanted to sleep in her princess bed. So, ok, we decide to give it a try knowing that she would get up and want to play and it would be an endless battle of us going in the and tucking her back in over and over.
Nope. she went right to sleep. Slept all night in it. I am sooooo amazed! I can not believe how BIG my little girl is..
I dont know if I am ready for her to be so big just yet... :(
Shes asleep in there now.. night 2..!
Guess I can pack up the crib.

Happy 1st Birthday Vincent

Yesterday we went to Vincent's first birthday party. Kaiya had lots of fun playing with "baby Vincent". Hate to tell her that he isn't too much younger than her and wont be a baby very much longer!
We so wish they lived closer to us so they could play together more often.
Happy Birthday Vince! The Zerwekh's LOVE you!! :)

Just because...

No real reason for this post, just thought I would share a couple of pictures I think are super cute!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jacob!

We had lots of fun today helping Jacob celebrate his second birthday!
I think Kaiya liked the yummy blue frosting on the cake the best!!!

Swimming Lessons

KAiya started swimming lessons last weekend. Now for those of you who dont know it, Kaiya HATES swimming. Actually she HATES anything that has to do with water. She doesnt like taking baths, she doesnt like the duck pond and she even freaks out over the little fountain in the mall.
We thought that starting her in swimming lessons when she is young will hopefully help her outgrow this fobia or hers. So far, she still hate it. But I guess its only been 2 weeks so I should give it a couple more before I give up.
She cries alot but did manage to go into the pool somewhat. She does ok as long as she is in the super shallow end and wont really do what the other kids are doing. She did however put her nose in the water. I guess thats a start. Wish us luck for the upcoming weeks as we hope to conquer this fear!

Splash Park

Today we went to a birthday party for Kaiya's friend Nina. It was held at a local splash/sprinkler park. Now I wasnt too sure if Kaiya would like this, since she is sooo not fond of swimming, or even taking a bath.
She suprised me though. After seeing how much fun Kate was having, Kaiya jumped right in and was splashing like a pro!!
